National conference against commercial sexual exploitation of children
Sugar dating, camshows, OnlyFans, grooming, porn, trafficking, prostitution. These are some of the terms commonly used to describe the commercial sexual exploitation of children. In Sweden, approximately 14,000 children have been subjected to this at some point, which nationally corresponds to about one student in every ninth grade and in upper secondary school. This means that this is an issue that affects every municipality, town and school across the country.
On 24 April 2023, the Ombudsman against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (OKSE) will organize a national conference to draw attention to these children and raise awareness of the exploitation they face.
The conference is aimed at those who work on the issue of commercial sexual exploitation of children or who, in their professional role, meet children who are or are at risk of being exposed. For example, you may work in schools, associations, social services, health care, the judicial system or civil society, or you may be in a decision-making position for any of these activities.
The conference includes parallel seminar tracks on topics such as:
- The latest state of knowledge on commercial sexual exploitation of children
- Inspiration and good examples from municipalities, regions and civil society
- Detecting children’s vulnerability to CSE
- Child-friendly approach to vulnerable children
- The role of schools in prevention
- Trauma treatment and rehabilitation
The majority of the lectures and seminars will be in Swedish, but one or a few program items will be held in English.
