Child10 and OKSE organize seminar in Almedalen


Seminar on commercial sexual exploitation of children in Almedalen

According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, it is a fundamental duty of the State to protect children and adults from all forms of sexual exploitation, including commercial sexual exploitation. Sweden is obliged to ensure this right for all children, but a new report by the Ombudsman against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (OKSE) shows that Sweden is not fulfilling this obligation. OKSE has examined children’s access to protection, support and justice and found serious shortcomings. So what do we need to do to ensure the rights of vulnerable children?

We intend to examine this in a seminar during Almedalen. During the seminar, Gabriella Kärnekull Wolfe, Ombudsman against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, will present the results of the report. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from most of our political parties on what needs to happen to ensure children’s rights.
