Ida Nordfors: “I believe it starts with the courage to see.”

She’s the public figure who has used her platform to speak out about what others often avoid: the power of silence and the path to change. When she was asked to become an ambassador for ChildX, Ida felt an immediate sense of responsibility. She’s one of those who refuse to stay silent — because she knows that change begins when we dare to see.

When did you first hear about ChildX, and what sparked your interest in the organization?

I was invited to become an ambassador for ChildX, and I immediately felt a strong sense of responsibility. Both as a mother, but also as a fellow human being — and as someone with a large platform — I knew I had to say yes, educate myself, and help spread awareness.

Has anyone inspired you to want to make a difference for children?

Over the past few years, I’ve met a few women who experienced abuse as children. Their stories have stayed with me — deeply — and made me realize how common this really is. This isn’t something that happens far away. It’s here, now, among the people we love, and in our children’s everyday lives.

How do we get more people to join the fight against sexual violence against children?

I believe it starts with the courage to see. For many of us (myself included), this is a topic we’d rather not think about — and that’s exactly why we must face it. Silence is the abuser’s best weapon, but if we dare to pause, to listen and to talk about it, we can begin to understand. And the more we understand, the better we can protect our children from what should never be allowed to happen.
