Welcome to the Beyond Survivors Platform

Who We Are

Beyond Survivors is a survivor-centered platform dedicated to safeguarding meaningful inclusion and engagement, founded by ChildX in collaboration with a collective of survivor-led organisations. We believe survivor inclusion must be safe and ethical, not performative or exploitative. That means centring survivors not just in conversation but in power, protection, and decision-making.

This platform marks a transformative step toward creating safe, ethical and empowering spaces for survivor involvement. Through the Safe Survivor Action Hub, Beyond Survivors provides access to free resources, trainings, and advocacy tools, all grounded in the lived experiences and leadership of survivors.

We are committed to ensuring that every stakeholder engaging with survivors does so responsibly, ethically, and with safety and dignity at the core. This initiative functions as both a trusted resource hub and a collaborative space for organisations, institutions, and individuals dedicated to upholding survivor voice, leadership, and agency.

What We Do

Safe Survivor Action Hub

The Hub is a free online resource library. We create, vet and share trauma-informed trainings and materials for safeguarding that are accessible and grounded in survivor experience.

Building Connections

Through the Platform, we connect organisations and individuals, encourage peer learning, and create space to discuss and enhance survivor engagement in a safe, ethical way.

Setting Standards

As a collective of survivors and allies, we advocate for safer, more ethical practises among organisations that wish to partner with survivors in the fight to end child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Why Beyond Survivors Matters

Most survivors are not protected in the engagement process. Too often, they are retraumatised, exploited for their stories, and not fairly compensated for their time, knowledge, or leadership.

Beyond Survivors exists to change that. We create structures that safeguard survivor dignity, prioritize mental and emotional safety, and ensure survivors are engaged with respect, transparency, and fair recognition. This is first and foremost the responsibility of the institutions, organizations and other entities that engage survivors. It is however also important that survivors themselves are aware about the risks in this field, and how their engagement should be safeguarded.

Platform Background

Beyond Survivors was first created in 2023 by ChildX as a collective of survivor-led organisations, in collaboration with Footprint to Freedom, Inte Din Hora (Not Your Whore), and Ge-STAC. From the start, the vision has been clear: to advance survivor leadership that is ethical, empowering  and sustainable. In 2025, Beyond Survivors grew into a dedicated platform that provides tools, guidance, and resources on how to engage survivors responsibly and with care. The platform helps survivors themselves as well as organizations, institutions, and other entities make sure survivor voices are heard and respected without causing harm.

The platform is coordinated by Malaika Oringa, CEO of Footprint to Freedom. You can reach her at: malaikaconsultancy@footprinttofreedom.org
