Watch lectures from the National Conference


In Sweden, there are the equivalent of one to two students in each year 9 and in upper secondary school who have been subjected to commercial sexual exploitation. On 24 April 2023, OKSE, Child10, Ellencentret, Jämställdhetsmyndigheten with NSPM (national coordination against prostitution and human trafficking) and Novahuset organized the first national conference of its kind to draw attention to these children and spread knowledge about the exploitation they are exposed to.

The conference was a meeting point for decision-makers and professionals from social services, health, justice, education, civil society and politics, among others. Some of the participants were:

  • Marius Melgaard, Investigation Manager for the ISÖB (Internet-related sexual abuse of children) Grooming Group, Stockholm Police Region
  • Gabriella Kärnekull Wolfe, Ombudsman against commercial sexual exploitation of children
  • Staca Shehan, Vice President NECMEC

In total, over 230 people attended and in the evaluation survey, the conference as a whole was rated 4.8 out of 5 by visitors.
