ChildX takes over “Okay with you?” – strengthens children’s understanding of consent already at preschool age
We are now proud to announce that ChildX is taking over responsibility for Okay with You, an educational resource that teaches children about bodily integrity and consent from an early age. The book encourages children to both express their own boundaries and respect those of others – a crucial step in preventing sexual abuse.
The takeover comes at a time when the Public Health Agency of Sweden report UngKAB23 shows that young people in Sweden are experiencing increased exposure to sexual abuse and that there is a lack of knowledge about consent.
– To protect children from sexual exploitation, we must start early. Consent should never be negotiable,” says Ida Östensson, Secretary General of ChildX.
The book Okay with you? gives both children and adults tools to reflect on bodily integrity and reciprocity in everyday life. It teaches children not only to say “Stop my body!” but also to ask: “Are you okay?”. Through reflection questions and educational materials, it helps adults lead conversations that strengthen children’s understanding of boundaries and respect.
To increase access to the book, ChildX, together with the Juice Studios Foundation, is donating 3,000 copies to preschools, family centers and parents in socio-economically vulnerable areas in Huddinge municipality.

The initiative Okay with you? was developed by the equality foundation Make Equal 2021 with the support of the Swedish Gender Equality Agency. The book has since been distributed to thousands of preschools and homes. It was created by author and illustrator Åsa Karsin and published in collaboration with Save the Children. From 2025, the initiative will be continued by the children’s rights organization ChildX, which works to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and young people.
